I haven’t even cast my first stitch yet, but the pile of knitting books I picked up from the library have inspired me. I must knit! But it’ll be a few days before I can go and buy the proper supplies, so in the meantime I’m drooling over various patterns on the ‘net.
Scarves are one of the easiest beginner projects. First on the list is a Hogwarts scarf. Ravenclaw’s colors from the movie would match my winter coat nicely, so that’ll probably be my first, but I doubt a Gryffindor one would be far behind.
Then of course I must have a Tom Baker/Doctor Who scarf. I suppose I’ve yet to get a handle on how extreme the Who fandom is, but it amazes me how much of a detailed history of the scarf these fansites go into. They note episode-by-episode when when sections are damaged, removed, stretched, lengthened, colors added, the whole ball of wax (or yarn, as it may be). Amazing. For aspiring knitters, this site here seems to be the best, having patterns for all four main versions of The Scarf. I can hardly wait!
