Anyway.. Sorry for the lull in writing recently. My mind has been consumed with things like knitting and Doctor Who – stuff that I’m sure no one really wants to read about…
…but for those who do 
I’ve now run through all of my library’s ‘adult’ knitting books and have started on the kids’ section. It’s funny how heel-less socks can look rather like knit condoms. ahem. Another book had patterns for sunny-side up eggs and “silly sausage” – rather frightening. I also found a cute video in the library’s collection that shows a Sheep to Shawl competition.
Meanwhile, the bottom of my Booga is done (picture to come). I’m dying to finish it, but my Denise set is on backorder. They’re supposed to get get more in stock soon, but as I’m going to Walmart today, I’m very much tempted to pick up a pair of 29″ circulars (the only length they carry) and do it the sock way. (Yes, I picked that book up at the library too even though I’ve no immediate plans to knit socks.) As far as I can figure, a very dedicated person could also make i-cord on circular needles. It would just take a lot of sliding.
And the latest pattern I’ve set my heart on is the Knitty French Market Bag. Is it too insane to knit a bag to hold your knitting? If it is, I don’t care. At the moment my various works in progress are kept in ordinary plastic grocery bags that, err, don’t get along well with straight needles. Sure, I could buy some plain canvas bags from Walmart (and may yet) but what’s the fun in that?
And Doctor Who? Well, I don’t really have anything to say about it, but I’ve watched 3 stories in the past week – mostly 3rd Doctor tales. I’m way behind on my Movie Log, but reviews are to come. I have to say that Jon Pertwee is growing on me. I just wish he hadn’t been stuck with so many Earth-bound, UNIT pseudo-military storylines. I’m hoping to get caught up with all the available DW DVDs by the time the new series hits US TVs – which may be a long time away. Downloading the leaked “Rose” episode is just too time-consuming, alas. I think my days of doing long downloads on dial-up are in the past. I don’t have the patience or nerves for it any longer.
