Introducing Lion Wool August 26, 2005

Filed under: Yarn Talk — Manda @ 5:55 am

Dude! Lion Brand has a new 100% wool worsted yarn called (quite imaginatively) Lion Wool. The colors are limited but good, and there’s four prints. The recommended gauge is about heavy worsted so it’s not skimpy like Wool of the Andes. The skeins are a good size, and it’s already available for purchase at the Lion site at the full retail of $6.99. Here’s to hoping that Michael’s, etc. will sell this one!

Joann.com – 10% off needles and notions August 12, 2005

It seems like everywhere I turn I get the temptation to buy more knitting stuff. Case in point: Joann.com is having quite a sale on knitting needles and notions. Most seem to be on sale already, but you get an extra 10% off if you purchase 3 or more. And then the code JULFSA525 will give you free shipping if you order at least $25. If only they carried Brittany Birch dpns, I’d be sunk.

Knit Picks September 2005 catalog

It’s arrived! The first catalog after the new yarns/colors were announced. I’ve been trying to talk myself out of placing a new order for color cards and yarn for a few Christmas presents. I had so far been able to do so because I find it so tedious to pick out colors on a computer screen, but I think I’ll run out of excuses quite soon!

There’s also new colors and color cards for some old favorites. I’m very disappointed, though, to see there aren’t any new worsted yarns. After all, it’s the most common yarn weight, and yet they have twice as many lace and fingering yarns than worsted.
