I should be able to get the Chunky Tote finished this afternoon which leaves me two whole knitting days before Christmas. Obviously, the sane thing to do would be working on some WIPs, but there is a strong urge to knock up something new for Christmas instead. The candidates are:
- Another pair of house socks for Mom. The first pair I knitted ended up going to Grandma. Mom saw & loved the socks, and she knows they were originally supposed to be for her.
Pro: Big surprise factor.
Con: Might not be able to finish them in time. - A small festive red and white tea cozy using this snowflake chart to add a little Fair Isle.
Pros: Would be very useful (current tea cozy is cotton – so not suitable for a cold house in winter) & I’ve been wanting to try Fair Isle again.
Con: Might be too Christmasy-looking to use after Sunday. - Divine Throw made from Paton’s Divine in frosted green.
Pros: I’ve had it planned as a Christmas gift to the household for months. Would pick up the accents in the living room couch nicely.
Cons: Uncertain about the mohair content, afraid it might set off Mom’s allergies. Probably underestimating time required to finish.
So.. what do you think? Should I have a go at one of these, or solemnly stitch to my previous plan?

I say work on the WIPs. But maybe because that’s what I’m doing. I’m soooo close to being done!!
well, kind of. I’m a sewing-on-of-the-second-sole away from a pair of felted clogs (well, and the felting, of course), and that’s all that HAS to be done before Sunday.
Also, I”m so tired of knitting this crap, but a lot of that stuff sounds like it might take too long & won’t finish… if you have stuff on the WIP list that can be finished soon (like the felting of the bags), I say get that stuff done.
Once you start getting other things done, it may work as a catalyst to get other stuff done.
C’mon 2006. :/ lol
I was afraid you were going to say that.
I think I was mostly looking for an out because both of my main ‘on the stix’ WIPs are socks, and fingering weight yarn makes my eyes go a bit buggy after a while. I so love the idea of socks, but reality is quite another matter.
