I didn’t know if I was going to have anything to show for March or not, but I just barely got the felted slippers/slipper socks finished in time to photograph by the last rays of the sun on the last day of the month. The kitchen counter was the only still-sunny spot in the apartment, and since I like to keep one foot on the ground at all times we have the left…
..and the right..
Pattern: Slipper Socks
Yarn: KnitPicks Sock Landscape in New England Foliage (doubled), 3 1/2 hanks
Needles: Size 5 and 9 dpns; size 8 16″ circular
Began: 3/24/06
Completed: 3/31/06

It’s probably not very obvious, but these are fraternal slippers. The yarn settled into a prominent green stripe sequence for the first slipper and a half, but when I switched balls it ended up leaning more toward red stripes. I also played fast and loose with needle sizes which affected the shaping a little. The pattern only mentions dpns, but just past the heel of the first slipper I realized at a 16″ circular would work just as well for almost the entire pattern. I’m seldom one to toil with dpns with a circular will do, but the nearest one I had was a size smaller than the dpns I had been using. Lastly, I added single crochet around the top with cotton in hopes of being able to pick up stitches after felting to directly attach the cuffs, but the cotton I used was too thick and got in the way of the felting process. I’m not altogether happy with these slippers, but hopefully they’ll grow on me.
