Absorba, the Great Bathmat

Pattern: Absorba, from Mason-Dixon Knitting
Yarn: Peaches & Creme in White and Ecru, 2 strands of each (4 total) held together [one cone of each is probably enough for 2-3 bathmats; I had a lot left over]
Needles: Size 15 Boye 29″ circular, size 17 needle (for binding off), K crochet hook (for picking up stitches)
Gauge: 8.75 sts/17 rows per 4″ [pattern calls for 9sts/17 rows]
Size: 19.5″ x 26″ [pattern: 18" x 27"]

A quick, inexpensive item that would be welcome in any household – what’s not to love about this pattern??

In my joy over completing this I nearly commited myself to knitting one of these for Grandma for Christmas. I don’t have anything against that in principle, but with four strands of yarn, this bathmat is no lightweight! I shudder to think how much it would cost to ship it to Florida… But I’ll probably do it anyway. ;)
